Lightning warnings the NWS won't give you
The National Weather Service issues no public warning for cloud-to-ground lightning. We track it and alert you in time to clear rides, pools and queues before a strike — and give you the all-clear when the last strike is far enough behind you to reopen.
Your park, not the entire region
Instead of an oversized warning covering thousands of square miles, we monitor your exact footprint and alert only when there's a real threat to you. A storm passing ten miles north shouldn't close your coaster.

When the NWS warns an area that includes you but your site is clear, we tell you — avoiding needless evacuations, shutdowns and lost revenue, and keeping your ride ops crews responsive when a warning is real.
Wind thresholds by ride
Your tallest coaster, your drop tower and your carousel don't have the same wind limit. You set the threshold per ride or ride group; we warn on each with onset and end timing so operations closes and reopens in the right order.
What a typical park program looks like
Every program is built with your operations and safety leads. Here is a common starting point for a single park; multi-park operators repeat it per property.
- Lightning: alert on cloud-to-ground strikes within 10 miles (staff up, prepare guests), warning within 8 miles (clear rides, pools and exposed queues), all-clear 30 minutes after the last strike inside the radius.
- High wind by ride group: warnings at your thresholds — for example, sustained 25 mph for the tallest rides, 35 mph for mid-height, gusts above 45 mph for park-wide concern — with onset and end timing.
- Tornado and severe thunderstorm: park-specific warnings with expected arrival time for guest sheltering, at your lead time; null-warning notification when the NWS polygon includes you but the storm does not.
- Hail, heat and flooding: hail warnings for exposed guests and vehicles; heat-index alerts at your threshold for guest-services staffing; flash-flood warnings for parking and low areas.
- Daily outlook: a morning forecast for the park with the day's lightning and severe weather windows, for staffing and show scheduling.
- Delivery: portal and push alerts to operations and security, live phone call to the duty manager for anything guest-critical, text and email to ride ops, aquatics and guest services — and an API feed into your park operations or guest-messaging system.
- Heat (WBGT or heat index): advisories and warnings at your thresholds for guests and outdoor staff, on either scale.

Do you warn for lightning?
Yes. The National Weather Service issues no warnings for cloud-to-ground lightning. SiteWarn alerts you to strikes within a custom radius of your site with enough lead time to move people and protect equipment, and tells you when it is safe to resume.
How fast can we reopen after a storm?
Faster than with public warnings. SiteWarn gives you an all-clear based on the actual lightning and storm position relative to your park — typically 30 minutes after the last strike inside your radius — rather than waiting for an NWS warning to expire.
Can you warn on different wind speeds for different rides?
Yes. You set the threshold per ride or ride group, and warnings name which group is affected and when, so operations closes and reopens in the right order.
