Clear the course in time. Get players back out fast.
Nobody is more exposed to lightning than a foursome on the back nine or a tournament on eight open fields — and the government doesn't warn on it. SiteWarn™ puts live meteorologists on every property 24/7/365, warns your staff at the radius your policy calls for with time to clear players, and gives a real all-clear so play resumes minutes after the last strike, not an hour later.
Trusted for 14 years at more than 400 sites in all 50 states, with a 100% client renewal rate.
Customized for a single site — or for a command or operations center monitoring hundreds, even thousands, of sites from one screen.
Why clubs, complexes and parks departments choose SiteWarn
A fully customized program: you set the thresholds, we watch the weather.
Lightning warnings the NWS won't give you
The National Weather Service issues no public warning for cloud-to-ground lightning. We track every strike and warn you at your radius with enough time to get players off the course and off the fields, then time your all-clear from the actual last strike so play resumes as soon as it's safe.
Your property, not the entire region
Instead of an oversized warning covering thousands of square miles, we monitor each course, complex and park individually. A storm passing north of town shouldn't clear your tournament — and when an NWS polygon includes your site but your property is clear, a null-warning notification tells you so.
Tournament and league decisions with real timing
Suspend play now or finish the hole? Hold the 6 p.m. games or cancel? SiteWarn gives the tournament director the arrival time of lightning and severe weather at the property, and a meteorologist on the phone for the call.
Every property in the department on one program
Parks departments with a dozen fields and three pools, and club groups with several courses, get per-property thresholds and contacts on a single group-rate program, with unlimited staff on the alerts at no extra cost.
What a typical program looks like
Every program is built with your superintendent, tournament director or recreation director. Here is a common starting point; each property carries its own radius and contacts.
- Lightning: alert on cloud-to-ground strikes within 10 miles (prepare to clear), warning within 8 miles (sound the horn, clear the fields), all-clear 30 minutes after the last strike inside the radius — adjusted to your written policy or governing-body rule.
- Tournament coverage: a meteorologist assigned for the run of a tournament or major league weekend, reachable by phone, with lightning and severe weather timing for the property updated throughout.
- Hail and high wind: hail warnings for players, carts and greens; wind warnings at your threshold for tree-fall exposure and tent structures.
- Tornado and severe thunderstorm: property-specific warnings with expected arrival time for sheltering; null-warning notification when the NWS polygon includes you but the storm does not.
- Daily and course-management outlook: a morning forecast for the property with the day's lightning windows and, for superintendents, precipitation timing and frost or heat for turf and irrigation decisions.
- Delivery: portal and push alerts to the pro shop, superintendent and complex office, live phone call for lightning warnings if you prefer, text to rangers, referees and league coordinators — and an API feed into your tee-sheet, scheduling or notification system.
- Heat (WBGT): advisories and warnings on Wet Bulb Globe Temperature at the thresholds your league or tournament policy uses, per property; heat index available.
- Wildfire: advisory when fire-weather conditions are expected to threaten the site or its access routes; warning when an active fire's location and expected spread put the site at risk, with timing and an all-clear.
- Hazard Matrix for the department: your fields, pools, courses and parks grouped by district as you define them, with each district's status for every hazard on one grid, for the recreation office.

"I am simply amazed at how accurate you guys are!"

"We could not possibly go without your services! We routinely make believers out of event venues when they overreact to an inaccurate TV weather forecast."
Cheryl Bailey, Yellow Umbrella Events, Austin, TX
Questions superintendents, tournament directors and parks staff ask
How is this different from the lightning detector we already have?
A ground-based detector reports strikes; it doesn't forecast, doesn't tell you whether a storm is coming your way or passing by, and doesn't answer the phone. SiteWarn adds a meteorologist who reads the radar and lightning data for your property, warns you before the first close strike, and times the all-clear from real data.
Do you cover tournaments?
Yes. A meteorologist can be assigned for the run of a tournament or league weekend, reachable by phone, with lightning and severe weather timing for the property updated throughout.
Can a parks department put all its fields and pools on one program?
Yes. Multi-property programs cover every field, pool, course and park with per-property thresholds and contacts on a group rate. Single-site programs start at $99.95 a month; multi-site discounts apply — ten sites does not cost ten times one.
Do you warn for lightning?
Yes. The National Weather Service issues no warnings for cloud-to-ground lightning. SiteWarn alerts you to strikes within a custom radius of your site with enough lead time to move people and protect equipment, and tells you when it is safe to resume.
What does the Free Live Trial involve?
We set up your real property, thresholds and delivery methods and monitor them exactly as we would for a paying client — no credit card and no obligation. Most sites are live the same day; overnight requests are set up the next morning.
